Problem: Many rural districts that have been Republican-held since 2010 do not currently have the resources, infrastructure and/or expertise needed to wage the scale of campaigns needed to seize the electoral opportunities of 2018/2020. Furthermore, because they are rural and Republican districts they are last in line to receive any resources from the National party.
Solution: Here at Rural Progress we are launching our Adopt a District to help rural districts raise funds, grow their activist capacity, and provide support for local parties/candidates from outside of the district.
Through the 2018 and 2020 election cycles, Rural Progress will be recruiting Democratic donors/activists/campaign experts who live in safe Democratic districts to volunteer to "Adopt" a rural district. These Blue state/district supporters will be matched up with a district and help them raise money, reach voters and give technical advice to Democrats in the district. Throughout the process, our staff here at Rural Progress will help both the district leaders and their supporters to plan out their strategy, set and achieve goals, and lend our hand in any way it is needed.
The Adopt a District program is currently in the early stages of development so feel free to reach out to us with any ideas, suggestions, concerns or questions you may have.
